What’s New: Coach Party – “Space”

Emerging Isle of Wight band Coach Party have shared their third catchy grunge-pop inspired track “Space” and accompanying music video, continuing on the emotional intensity paved by the band’s first two singles “Oh, Lola” and “Breakdown.” Jess Eastwood (vocalist) of Coach Party shares that lyrically, “Space” is about “the emotion of putting your feelings on the line and how tormenting someone can be when you break up. The control someone has over you when they know something you don’t want others to know.” The hard-hitting anthem of the song’s chorus emotes the regret found post-breakup: “I even let you in, and now you won’t get out… I gave you what I had, and now I want it back.”

The music video for “Space” (animated by Cameron Guy) is meant to provide a sort of distraction and ‘anti’ to the darker themes of the song. The video features a trippy intergalactic territorial feud between space dogs and space cats, who eventually make amends after being abducted by a common enemy: a multi-headed alien representation of the four Coach Party band members. The band’s debut EP Party Food will be released on June 12th via Chess Club Records (pre-order the 10″ here on Rough Trade).
