What’s New: April 2017

The Babe Rainbow – Peace Blossom Boogy

I think the name “Peace Blossom Boogy” speaks for itself when it comes to capturing the essence of the widely under appreciated Babe Rainbow. The Babe Rainbow is an incredible up-and-coming band from Australia that perfectly harmonize the drug-induced blissfulness of the 60s mixed with modern day psych sounds similar to Tame Impala. They’ve been releasing nothing but singles and EPs since 2013, but they are releasing their very first self-titled in just a few months.

I mean, come on – with song titles like “Dr. Love Wisdom” and “Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest”… It would be disappointing if you weren’t receiving songs from a psychedelic-esque group of hippies. And if you haven’t been listening to them – please do yourself a favor and give them a listen here and check out their latest single below.

Pre-order The Babe Rainbow’s debut self-titled album on Flightless Records which will be released on June 2nd 2017.

Bleeding Knees Club – Chew The Gum

Bleeding Knees Club are the perpetual high school slackers dreaming of summer vacation. Since their first release in 2011 (Virginity), Bleeding Knees Club has been slowly cultivating a sound reminiscent of a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack mixed with traces of lo-fi surf punk sounds similar to Wavves.

“Sun House” could very well be the theme of Summer 2017.

Splashh – Waiting a Lifetime

Sounds like Yuck and Surfer Blood took a bunch of uppers, listened to some Ariel Pink albums, and decided to make some good ‘ol indie rock tunes.

Favorite track: Closer

Woods – Love is Love

“Wisdom comes with age, so it’s no surprise that Woods
have grown more sage in the twelve years since they
formed, expanding from sylvan drum circles into
increasingly elaborate, transcendent psychedelia."
- Pitchfork

Woods features members from Dufus, The Babies, and Quilt. Imagine Kevin Morby as a salsa dancer at a Local Natives show.

Favorite track: Love Is Love (Sun on Time)

Cotillon – The Afternoons

Cotillon is a very unique band with a lot of range. They can go from Shoegazing to Indie Rock anthems to Emo Ballads. This album has something for everyone.
